Meet Paras
As a South Asian male, first-generation immigrant, and dual-licensed mental health clinician (LMFT & LPCC), I bring a lived understanding of the complexities inherent in a Desi community. I recognize the deep psychological impact that growing up in a South Asian household can have on your mental health, your self-image, and your relationships.
In my own journey and throughout my career in various healthcare settings, I have seen how cultural pride and societal pressure often sit side-by-side. You may appear successful and capable on the outside, yet privately struggle with the quiet weight of intergenerational expectations, perfectionism, or the feeling that your personal ambitions are in conflict with your family obligations.
My goal is to provide a space where you don't have to choose between your culture and your well-being. Here, you don't have to explain the nuance of family loyalty or the sting of "log kya kahenge." We begin with a shared understanding so we can get straight to the work of healing.
How I Work
I believe therapy should be both compassionate and highly practical. I integrate research-backed Western psychology with a deep cultural lens to help you break old cycles and build a life that feels like your own.
My approach is grounded in three primary frameworks:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): We work together to identify and reframe the automatic thoughts, often rooted in cultural guilt or high-pressure environments, that lead to anxiety, depression, and burnout.
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT): I provide tangible tools for emotional regulation and distress tolerance. These are especially helpful for navigating heated family dynamics, managing anger, and staying grounded during high-stress transitions.
The Gottman Method: For couples, I use this gold-standard, research-based approach to help you navigate conflict, improve communication, and build a partnership that honors both your shared future and your individual roots.
Who I Support
While my practice is open to all individuals seeking growth, I specialize in supporting those navigating the unique intersection of modern life and traditional expectations. I have extensive experience working with:
South Asian & First-Generation Adults: Navigating cultural identity, family boundaries, and the tension of living in two worlds.
High-Achieving Professionals: Addressing burnout, imposter syndrome, and the pressure to succeed in demanding industries.
Couples & Families: Resolving relationship conflict, communication breakdowns, and generational gaps while maintaining cultural respect.
Men’s Mental Health: Creating a safe space to address depression, anger management, and vulnerability in a way that feels accessible and honorable.
Individuals Facing Life Transitions: Whether it’s a career change, a breakup, or navigating the complexities of dating and marriage within the diaspora.
